Number and Operation - Outcome One

Students will understand number relationships and computational strategies

Focus Area For Grades - K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12

  • Understanding numbers, ways of representing numbers , and relationships among numbers:
  • Understanding meanings of operations and how they relate to one another:
  • Computing fluently and making reasonable estimates.

Measurement - Outcome Two

Students will understand how to measure accurately and use measurements appropriately

Focus Area For Grades - 2, 3, 6, 10, and 12

  • Understand measurable attributes of objects and the units and processes of measurement;
  • Apply appropriate teaching techniques, tools, and formulas to determine measurements.

Algebra - Outcome Three

Students will understand algebraic concepts

Focus Area For Grades - K, 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12

  • Understand patterns, relations, and functions;
  • Represent and analyze mathematical situations and structures using algebraic symbols;
  • Use mathematical models to represent and understand quantitative relationships;
  • Analyze changes in various contexts.

Geometry - Outcome Four

Students will understand geometric concepts

Focus Area For Grades - K, 1, 3, 4, 7, and 10

  • Analyze characteristics and properties of two and three dimensional geometric shapes and develop mathematical arguments about geometric relationships;
  • Specify locations and describe spatial relationships using coordinate geometry
  • Use symmetry to analyze mathematical situations;
  • Use visualization, spatial reasoning, and geometric modeling to solve problems.

Statistics and Probability- Outcome Five

Students will understand statistics and probability

Focus Area For Grades - 5, 7, 9, and 11

  • Formulate questions that can be addressed with data and collect, organize, and display relevant data to answer them;
  • Select and use appropriate statistical methods to analyze data;
  • Develop and evaluate inferences and predictions that are based on data;
  • Understand and apply basic concepts of Probability.
