Subdivisions
We service these subdivisions: East Moser Highlands, Olsen Estates, Fontenaix, Willow Creek, Pembroke Commons, Huntington Estates, Oxford Lane north of 75th Street, Knolls of Huntington, Huntington Ridge, Green Trails SW, Promenades, Gardens, and Collegewood.
The Building
The school was built in 1957 and has had three additions. We have an extensive campus and a wonderful playground for our children. Our neighbor to the north is North Central College.
The Whale
A sculpture of a blue whale emerging from the ocean marks the south entrance to our school. This whale was designed and built by students and parents in the fall of 1998. It was an intensive two week "artist in residence" project and all students had an opportunity to take part in the construction of this sculpture. Many parents donated time, equipment, and materials to help make this giant whale.
The School Program
There are four sections of kindergarten through fifth grades. We also have a self-contained program for Kindergarten and 1st grade students with special needs and a magnet fourth/fifth grade self-contained gifted program.
Additional services and resources available to complement the classroom instruction are: art, music, physical education, speech/language therapy, special reading, learning disability resource, band, orchestra, learning resource center, gifted, and enrichment. Support staff includes: psychologist, social worker, assistant principal, and principal.
