Process

What is Rudy to do? Only you can help him find his way through the Circulatory System. Use the Information Collection Sheet (Microsoft Word 2000) that your teacher has given you and work with a partner to research the parts of the blood, heart, blood vessels, and the job of a red blood cell. If you’re ready, continue on to the Resources page and begin collecting the necessary information. After you’ve checked your information with the teacher you will be finished with part one.

What, you’re done and have checked your info, but still have time on the computer? Go to the Conclusion page and read over some commonly asked questions.

Once you have all the information on your sheet, your teacher will take you back to the classroom and discuss the Circulatory System with you. In class you will begin to assemble the information and get an idea how the parts function as a whole. Additional activities will be provided for you to experience what it would feel like to be Rudy traveling in the body. When you’re finished with this portion, go on to part three.

Now that you have all the information and understand what it's like to be a red blood cell, you can begin to create your cartoon. Using the six-panel cartoon sheet (Microsoft Word 2000), you will have to take Rudy through the heart, lungs, arteries, capillaries, and veins as he meets Warrick the white blood cell and Paige the platelet. In the last frame, Rudy should be reunited with his parents as he's about to enter the heart. When you’ve finished this you will be graded from the Teacher Rubric (Microsoft Word 2000) and have the opportunity to create an extension cartoon.
