Home & School

Purpose / Pumpkinfest / Hot Lunch / Mini Courses / Publishing Center / Market Day / Fundraisers / Volunteering / Bicycle Policy / Insufficient Funds Policy

The purpose of the Home & School Association is to foster cooperation and communication between the school and the home and to provide an avenue by which the volunteer efforts of students, parents and guardians might enhance the school environment and instructional programs.

Beebe parents can choose from a wide range of opportunities for involvement. Our Home & School brings volunteers into the LRC, the classroom and the lunch room. Many Home & School activities have opportunities for parents that can not come into the school on a regular basis and need a one-time, special project to allow them to be involved at Beebe. In addition, our fundraisers provide opportunities to support Beebe to those that can not visit during the school day.

All funds at Beebe go into services and projects at Beebe. Home & School recently completed an upgrade of our playground equipment. This spring the Home & School plans to revitalize the landscaping around the building and the Beebe Courtyard.
Our Home & School can help you find a way to be involved in your child's education.

Pumpkin Fest

The big event at Beebe is Pumpkin Fest. This old-fashioned fun fair is almost 40 years old. It takes the efforts of some special organizers and hundreds of volunteers to bring the entire Beebe community together for a day of fun for everyone; games with prizes, raffles, food and entertainment. Prizes are donated by many local businesses and parents. All funds raised go toward purchasing cool things for Beebe.

Hot Lunch

Beebe serves Hot Lunch every Tuesday. We have different food varieties each week. Beebe Home and School volunteers help collect and tally the orders and money, and then order the food. Each Tuesday parents volunteer to help count and pass out the food. Local restaurants provide the food and dessert, either ice cream, cookies or brownies are served.

Mini Courses

Mini Courses are enrichment activities offered through Home & School with the help of parent and community volunteers. The program is for grades 1-5, the courses are held on three consecutive Wednesday afternoons in February and March for one hour. Parents can volunteer to share their expertise as an instructor, an assistant or even to help with babysitting.

Publishing Center

The Beebe Publishing Center publishes the original literary works of our students. Volunteers are needed to interview the authors, assist in editing the books, type the text (this can be done at home) and bind the books.

Market Day

Market Day is a fund-raising food co-op. Every month a list of items available is sent home with students. The food is of high quality; the meats are restaurant quality, vacuum packed and easy to prepare, the produce is fresh from Water Street Market. 10% of the sales goes to the Beebe Home & School Association.

Fundraisers

Beebe Home & School is able to fund its services and activities because of the generous support of the parents and community. Parents can support Beebe by purchasing Beebe Spirit Wear, helping with the Gift Wrap Sale, buying books at the Book Fair, utilizing Market Day, collecting Box Tops for Education from General Mills products or even just dining out with other Beebe families on the designated Fundraiser nights.

Volunteering

Home & School volunteers work throughout the school year. Parents can come into the school during the school day and help in the LRC, or the Publishing Center, serve Hot Lunch, present Art in the classroom or give a Mini Course in their area of expertise. Parents can also be involved after school by helping with Market Day, assisting with the ordering and tallying of Beebe Spirit Wear and Gift Wrap sale, or even just dining out with other Beebe families on the designated Fundraiser nights. Parents that can't come to Beebe can help from home. There is always a need for typists, bakers and volunteers willing to make reminder calls.
