Well Known Teacher Sites
  • Scholastic Teacher - What site could be better for great books linked with solid lesson plans. Tons of info is alwasys available and updated here.
  • The Department of Education - Yes, the government. This information heavy site offers a mass of teacher related subjects. If you have time, search and read away...
  • Fun Brain - This is a well known site for creating online quizzes and playing educational games. Many times during the year I take my students to the computer lab to use these games.
  • Reading Lady - Our district has adopted the Mosaic of Thought and Six-Trait Writing examples of literacy and the Reading Lady is well in tune.
  • EduScapes - So many topics, so much information, so interesting! This site's goal is to promote life long learners. What could be a better motto than that? Personally, I LOVE 42Explore! Great stuff.
  • ALFY Teachers - This site is extremely graphics heavy, so watch out. But when you get here you'll love the lesson plans, games, and thematic units!
  • Kids Konnect - This is a great subject based web site for finding general information. This site is very student/parent/teacher friendly and has won several awards for web excellence.
  • ED Helper - Huge text oriented site with lesson plans on any topic taught in public schools today.
  • Columbia Education Center - This is a text driven index of subjects and age ranges.
  • Best Sites for Teachers - And if you didn't find it here, check out the complete listing!
  • The Mailbox - While you need to register to use this site, you might be able to pull the information from your school's subscription to achieve this. Here's what you'll be getting for this.
  • Teacher Created Materials - This company has offered teachers supplies, ideas, and lessons for years. Visit it online and snag a few free lesson plans or order one of their helpful books.
  • CopyCat - The well known teacher reproducibles magazine is online. Some activities are available online in PDF format.
  • Random House - This publisher develops several online teacher aids for novel study information. You can perform a search or find information on an illustrator or author.
  • Puzzlemaker - This independent site was eaten up by Discovery.com over a year ago. It's still basically the same and offers a few new pieces too. Make puzzles online to print out!
  • PBS Teachers - "Explore TeacherLine's Modules, Virtual Mathematics Academy, Community Center, and Resources, for innovative professional development in mathematics and technology integration."
  • A to Z Teacher Stuff - Online since 1997, this site's goal is to provide easy access to lesson plans. You may search directly or by themes.
  • ABC Teach - abcteach will provide easy, online materials for immediate use by kids, student teachers, teachers, parents and other visitors to the site. The material can be printed directly from the screen; no downloads necessary.
  • Dositey - This site offeres interactive lessons and games for students and teachers covering mostly elementary grades.

  • Everything ESL/ELL - Do you have ELL students like we do? This site offers many links, lesson plans, and ideas for your English Language Learners. GenkiEnglish.com has great games and activities too!
  • Are you a NEW math teacher? - The goal of this site is to give you some ideas and help you get started.Get some further ideas from Teach 'R' Kids Math.
  • Genius Find - This is a search engine to locate other search engines specific to your subject/interest. I haven't used it a lot, so get back to me if its useful.
  • The Teacher's Corner - says it's "the best place for primary & intermediate teacher resources." You decide.
  • Awesome Library - This text oriented site is set up like an index (similar to Yahoo). Every major topic is listed with additional links associated to your topic.
  • Teaching Resources - Laura Candler has put together a wealth of teaching related information and lessons. The Filing Cabinet from this site has a wonderful array of PDF forms that you can download for any situation.
  • Lesson Plans Page - This site is exactly like it sounds. Search for lesson plans through an easy subject and grade level index
  • Make it a Web page! - We have known for quite some time that a scan-tron or multiple choice test doesn't truly assess the student. If you haven't the time for a portfolio, maybe a web page? Here's info how!
  • Excel in the Classroom - Ever wonder why you'd need to use Microsoft Excel with your students? So do I and this site gives me reasons.
  • Story Arts - This site has helped me numerous times when I'm looking for short stories or fables to illustrate a literary point. They also have a plethora of ideas for lesson plans and learning via story telling.
  • Teach Net - This well designed site offers a multitude of lesson plans as well as great ideas. Visit often for new ideas!
  • Plymouth, MA Schools - This is another extensive list of topics taught in the school system. Many are information oriented, however some include lesson plans as well.
  • Teachers First - This site offers K-12 lesson plans for the classroom teacher. Each page offers weighty descriptions and a more logic/mathematical type content.
  • Problem Based Learning - Need some lessons using PBLs? This site is full of great info and examples.
  • CIESE Collaborative Projects - Need an authentic practice for that experiment/unit in class? Here are a list of worldwide experiments and data collections that your class can be a part of!

My Favorites
 
  • Schwab Learning - This site is all about helping parents understand and aide their child with learning differences. The audio voice is a really nice option.
  • Dyslexia Teacher - I was asked by a parent if her student possibly showed signs of dyslexia. How could I tell? How does this impact the child's work? Those questions and more at this helpful site.
  • T.A.G. Teachers - This site chooses to devote its time to giving teachers resources, jobs, news, and online polling information.
  • Puzzles in Education - Think "outside the box" with this great resource promoting challenging puzzles.
  • Discover - This is the classic magazine full of complex scientific information. I read this all the time just to keep up on current discoveries and my own general interest.
  • American Maps - Ever notice the difference between French and English maps of the "new world"? The French listed all the native tribes, while the English showed open land. Interesting!
  • Film Values - This site was created for parental use, however, after a recent folley in prescreening a movie, I am quick to check with this site's database of movies! While this will help, watching the movie yourself is always the best bet.
  • I Love Teaching - This site doesn't offer lesson plans or many links. What it does offer is inspiring words, helpful practices, and advice for teachers or student teachers.
