Circulatory System Web Project

Current Events

I have worked diligently to learn a new web page program and reconstruct my home page into something a bit more modern and classy. I hope you enjoy the feel and hopefully the rest of the pages will follow as time permits.

The students have been busy too! After our unit on health, the class put together enough information for a educational page on the circulatory system. More recently we have focused our time towards geology. The students are now aware that the land, air, and water we take for granted every day comes from volcanoes. Our journey of geology will take us to minerals, rocks, the rock cycle, and testing minerals/rocks like a real geologist.

  • Social Science has continued our investigation of the regions of the United States. Currently we are focusing on the Middle West and Illinois. Spring will wrap up this with the Southwest, the West, and a culmination activity.
  • Mr. Mika's Online Classroom has links for multiplication and division games you can play on your computer! Still need work on your facts before we move onto measurement, fractions, and decimals? Start now!
  • Our reading class has begun our second novel study. In the genre of fantasy, we are reading both Castle in the Attic and Battle for the Castle. This unit will bring us knowledge of past governments, castles, and daily life. Check the links page for several sites dealing with medieval times.
  • The poetry writing unit will wrap up shortly in February. We will return to our prose and search out a nonfiction element of expository writing (possibly combined with plants). Check out a few of our poems on the student work page.
  • Are you a teacher? Several of my lesson plans (as soon as I have time to write them down) will be posted on my new Teacher's Resource page. If you're studying any of the topics above, do some research and borrow some ideas here!
