Officers and Chairpersons Descriptions

President: - The President shall preside at  all meetings of the Scott Home & School Association, and the Executive Board. The President is automatically a member of the Board of Managers of the District 203 General Home & School Association. The President shall help prepare the budget and shall pay out money on order of the Executive Board should the Treasurer be unable.
Vice President: - The Vice President shall assume all duties of the President in the event of the President's absence and helps to prepare the budget.
Secretary: - The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the Board Meetings and report the same at appropriate meetings. He or she shall be responsible for all correspondence for the Association.
Treasurer: - The Treasurer shall receive and disperse all Association funds and shall keep accurate account of the same. The Treasurer is empowered to pay expenses not in excess of one hundred dollars. Any expenditure in excess of $100.00 must be voted on by the Executive Board. The Treasurer shall present a financial report to the Board and to the Association at each meeting. The General Home & School require reports to be turned in prior to deadlines on a monthly basis and also at year-end. The Treasurer shall help in the preparation of the budget.
Art Awareness/Picture Parent:  - The Art Awareness Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for organizing volunteers who will present works of art to the students throughout the year. The Chairperson(s) shall make up a schedule and select the prints to be shown.
Book Fairs: - The Book Fair Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for the planning and running of any Book Fairs held during the year. This includes ordering books, organizing volunteers, setting up, selling and cleaning up.
Calendar: - The Calendar Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for printing and distributing the monthly calendar of events.
Communications: - The Communications Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for printing and distributing of the Great Scott Times, Handbook and Directory.
Community Fund:  The Community Fund Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for seeking donations from neighbors and neighborhood businesses to assist Scott School students in financial need. Donations would help provide hot lunches, school supplies, field trip costs, etc. to these students.
Fine Arts: - The Fine Arts Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for working with the Assistant Principal setting up assemblies or other special events for the student body.
Gift Wrap:  The Gift Wrap Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for the gift wrap fundraising activities held at the beginning of the school year. The Chairperson(s) will work with volunteers on this activity.
Great Books: - The Great Books Chairperson(s) shall organize the voluntary Great Books Literature for students, including securing volunteer leaders, arranging for volunteer training, ordering books, and setting up student groups.
Health and Safety: - The Health and Safety Chairperson(s) shall work with the Safety Director and be concerned with the safety and welfare of the students. They shall encourage and assist in programs to promote safety and health. The Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for the Helping Hand Program and find workers for the Vision and Hearing Screening Program. The Chairperson(s) shall also serve as the Association Task Force Liaison for "Red Ribbon Week" and "Just Say No" programs. The Chairperson(s) shall work with the crossing guard and Principal to promote traffic control.
Historian: - The Historian Chairperson(s) shall keep a scrapbook of newspaper articles and pictures of school activities. Throughout the year, the Historian will be responsible for the picture gallery.
Hot Lunch: - The Hot Lunch Chairperson(s), with the approval of the Principal, shall be responsible for selecting the dates for Hot Lunch, selecting suppliers, distributing forms, and contacting workers and suppliers for Hot Lunch Day. The Chairperson(s) shall be present during Hot Lunch and will oversee the program. Each Chairperson is also responsible for their monies.
Ice Cream Social: - The Ice Cream Social Chairperson(s) plan and organize the annual event for the Scott School Community.
Landscaping: The Landscaping Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the grounds at Scott School through volunteers, donations and fund raisers.
LRC: - The LRC Volunteer Chairperson(s) shall, with the approval of the school's LRC Director, be responsible for recruiting volunteers for the LRC throughout the school year and shall provide other assistance to the Director as required. 
Market Days: - The Market Day Chairperson(s) shall, with the input of the Principal, set up dates for Market Day, and handle all aspects of the Market Day Program.
Publishing Center: - The Publishing Center Chairperson(s) shall work cooperatively with the Instructional Coordinator and be responsible for all aspects of the Publishing Center and coordinating volunteers.
Room Parents: - The Room Parent Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for selecting and contacting all room parents as well as conducting an informational meeting with all room parents and classroom staff in regards to class parties and field days.
School/Family/Community Partnership: - School/Family/Community Partnership (formerly Parent Involvement) Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for working with the Principal in coordinating programs to enhance parent knowledge of education philosophies, curriculum and parenting skills.
School Store: - The School Store Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for the inventory, stocking, and dispensing of any items necessary from the School Store. The Chairperson(s) shall communicate with the teaching staff each spring regarding needed items for the next year's school packets.
Scrip Advantage: The Scrip Advantage Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for the sales and distribution of gift cards/certificates.
Spirit Wear: - The Spirit Wear Chairperson(s) shall be responsible for the selection of suppliers, distribution of order forms, ordering and delivering Spirit Wear and Band shirts.
Staff Appreciation: - The Staff Appreciation Chairperson(s) provides recognition in the form of cards, gifts, and donations. The gifts are given for Support Personnel, School Nurses, and Secretary Days. The gifts may also include special occasions such as births, weddings, illness, surgery, death, retirement, moving or disaster. They are also responsible for our Staff Welcome Back Luncheon, Staff Appreciation Tea and conference treats.
Volunteers/Nominations: - The Volunteers/Nominations Chairperson(s) will compile and distribute to appropriate committee chairpersons lists of volunteers willing to help that committee's projects. Volunteer interest sheets will be sent to parents in the fall and spring. It is also the responsibility of the Chairperson(s) to select a Nominating Committee, determine a slate of officers and present to the Association Board at the March Board meeting.
Ways and Means: - The Ways & Means Chairperson(s) will be responsible for various fundraising activities held throughout the school year. The Chairperson(s) will decide which fundraising activities will be held, and will work with volunteers on each activity.
Yearbook: - The Yearbook Chairperson(s) will be responsible for developing an annual Scott School Yearbook that will be available for sale to the students.
