The Trailblazers looked back to a thankful, family time for Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a thankful, family time for all the ways we celebrate the winter holiday season. There was lots to be thankful for here in First Grade, as conferences were a positive and informative time for teachers and parents alike. We continue to be grateful for all you do at home to help in reading and writing and math. Over the holiday, make sure you take time to talk to your child, children about the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, as well as the spirit of the winter holiday season, and ask them what they are learning about family and friends and what it means to be thankful.

After the new year, we will continue to focus on celebration and tradition. If there is anything special or important in your family you think would be valuable for us to know, please let your teacher know. When the children generate ideas and share thoughts, it makes the lessons so much better and personal to them!

We hope it was a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, and wish you a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season, no matter how you choose to celebrate! Take time to spend time with who and what is important, and we will look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Your first grade team.
