Naperville North High School presents: ![]()
ENRICHED PATTERNS OF COMMUNICATION SECOND SEMESTER
WEBFOLIOYou will create a webfolio for the writing you have completed second semester. The webfolio will have several sections:
This page also contains Helpful Links for clip art, horizontal lines, and backgrounds. You may also want to review a sample webfolio which has the same format but is for a different assignment (you can review it to have a visual idea of how your webfolio will be laid out) or a directions page for how to use Netscape composer to create a webpage.
- Introductory Letter - a central homepage for your webfolio
- Items - each is a different webpage linked to the introductory letter
- Tag sheet - the tag is placed on the same page as the item it is discussing
Because your webfolio will have the capabilities to appear on the internet, your audience is the entire world wide web!

The introductory section of your webfolio must begin with a table of contents which serves to inform the reader of the contents of the webfolio and utilizes targets and hyperlinks to fast forward your readers to the specified section of the webfolio.
The introductory letter explains the webfolio and reviews its purpose. You should include a summary in which you self assess your webfolio, making sure to mention its strengths, weaknesses, and what you would do differently next time. Be sure to include an identifying name (although not your full name), your teacher and class period.
Each item within your webfolio is copied from a word document on your disk and pasted onto a new web page. Use a new background for each different page.
You will include items from the following categories:1 assessments
1 vocabulary
1 learning log
1 product
1 speaking and listening

The tag sheet summarizes what the assignment was and then thoroughly discusses one of the prompts. You must have:
2 Future Prompts
- 1 item which you will focus on enhancement of knowledge -- Find a link to another webpage that increases your knowledge of a concept in an item and explain how this knowledge could enhance a revision of your item, (cause you to approach it at a different angle, include important information, etc.)
- 1 item which you will focus on enhancement of skill - Find a link that focuses upon a writing, speaking, listening, or reading skill that could have enhanced a item and explain how you could utilize this skill in a revision of your item
3 Reflective Prompts Select 3 of the prompts below:
- Which item was the most challenging? Why was it particularly challenging to you? What did you do to accomplish the task? What have you gained as a result of this item?
- Which item showed off one of your talents or strengths? What did you do so well? How can you utilize this talent or strength elsewhere? How can you use this strength or talent to compensate for weaknesses or difficulties?
- Which item was a risk? What was something you tried to complete in a purely unique or different way for you? What were you risking? What did you gain? Lose?
- Show growth between two items (before and after). What was accomplished or realized between the two items to cause that growth? How can you continue to grow?
Your tag sheet is on the same page as the corresponding text and it also includes an image which corresponds either to the topic or the emotion you feel your piece establishes.
Here are some sites to check out for clip art and backgrounds:
clip art #1 clip art #2 clip art #3
background #1 background #2 background #3
background #4
Horizontal lines #1 Horizontal lines #2 Horizontal lines #3
Remember to save absolutely everything (all texts, images, backgrounds, etc.) in one folder, on one disk. Do not use any spaces or capital letters when saving images or pages. Because this will all be on one disk, do not use any images or backgrounds which use a lot of disk space! Also, remember to save a back-up copy of everything on the H drive!
A quick checklist:
- Intro letter
- Table of contents
- 5 items (2 future prompts and 3 reflective prompts)
- Web Pages have targets to text and tag sheets
- Each Web Page has a different background
- At least one image per Web Page
- You have links on the future prompts pages
- Everything is in one folder, on one disk
- Check your final webfolio and all of its hyperlinks on a Naperville North High School computer to insure it is not blocked by the school's server.
- You do not use your full name!
Good Luck and may the WEB be with you! ![]()
