Students should select a country for the project. From past experience with this project some countries are more easily researched than others. Consult with your teacher and/or one of the staff members in the library for suggestions and hints.
First information gathering:
Use the NNHS library or your public library to search for general information on the country:
Second information gathering:
Use the following to locate more information about your country and its education system:
- account name and passwords provided by the librarian
- limit your search to articles in 2000 or 2001
Search library databases for books about the education in your country
- print information relevant
Connection to people and/or
consulates/embassies
at NNHS, talk to :
- ESL teachers
- Mrs. Blaskovich for names of other teachers who have recently visited foreign countries
seek community/church/family contacts from your country
- retired community members
- church members
from the phone book and the Internet locate an embassy or consulate for your country
- use a Washington D.C. location if there is no Chicago location
- find an email address, if possible, to use to gather further information via this medium
- find a phone number and address to keep as a back up, if email does not work as an option
