Marching
Band
Marching Band
is an extracurricular activity at NNHS, and is developing a national
reputation in Bands of America regional competition. The band has placed
3rd in class 6A, and 4th overall in the state of Illinois. Any student
enrolled in a music class at North is eligible to audition; however,
marching band is a conflict for anyone involved in a fall sport/activity,
so a choice will need to be made. As in any activity, students must
be in attendance at all practices and performances. Practices are after
school, not during curricular band time. The marching band performs
at all home football games (including playoffs) and attends contests
(including the State Championships and National Regional's). The marching
band has performed at Walt Disney World in Florida several times. Students
in marching band receive school letters and numerals for jackets. Marching
band camp is mandatory for all members and takes place for five days
in August. There are separate dates for freshmen to work with senior
leaders to get a head start.
