Dan Moore
Director of Bands Dan Moore
received his B.A. in Music Education from Western Illinois University
in 1987 and his M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy from Northwestern University in
1999. He is currently in his 14th year teaching high school instrumental
music in Illinois, including two years in Milledgeville, four years
in Watseka, five years in Bartonville, and currently at Naperville North
High School. He is in high demand as an arranger and visual designer
for marching bands throughout the Midwest.
Mr. Moore is an active clinician
and adjudicator in the areas of marching band and jazz. Known for having
a highly entertaining mix of comedy and drama, Moore's award winning
ensembles have been recognized at the state level and have appeared
at the BOA Grand National Championships. Last year, the Naperville North
Jazz Ensemble under Moore's direction, was one of 15 finalist bands
(from a pool of several hundred) invited to perform at Avery-Fisher
Hall in New York City in the Essentially Ellington Competition.

Brian Van Kley
Brian Van Kley is the Associate
Director of Bands for Naperville North High School. Mr. Van Kley
earned an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Wheaton
College, and a graduate degree in Music Education from Northern
Illinois University, where he served as a graduate assistant to
Dr. Ronnie Wooten. As his final project for the completion of
his graduate degree, Mr. Van Kley created a new edition of Four
Silhouettes, an out-of- print work for band by Ulysses Kay,
an African-American composer.
Mr. Van Kley's experience in the field of education has been quite varied,
giving him the oppurtunity to influence a wide range of students. Prior to
joining the NNHS faculty, Mr. Van Kley spent a year as an elementary
music teacher in Peoria, IL, five years as a band director in the Plainfield
school district, and most recently, as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music
Education at NIU.
