"WE'RE MEETING YOUR NEEDS"

The Agriscience program offers a wide variety of courses in the application of practical science principles and techniques, science theory, and mathematics. The sequential program recognizes the needs of all students, both those that are college-bound and those who are non-college vocationally oriented. The program philosophy attests to the fact that many students enter college with a formalized background in horticulture and various aspects of agriculture, readily preparing them for vocational careers requiring college background. The program also recognizes the practical application of skills learned as the student matures into a homeowner, an amateur horticulturist, or as an amateur floral designer.

Many students complete collegiate academic programs in horticulture, animal sciences, forestry, and environmental sciences; they have established personal horticultural and animal related business enterprises; they have taken their learned skills into home ownership; and they have enjoyed the personal and financial rewards of a horticulture or animal related background.

In addition to the "academic and vocational skill oriented courses'" students may elect to enroll in the INTERNSHIP PROGRAM, where they may gain related career skills through gainful employment in a local business of their career area. The actual on-site placement depends on the student's interest, completed high school coursework, teacher recommendations, and availability of appropriate job placement.

Most courses are lab oriented with extensive hands-on activities. Some courses require out-of-school quarter or long-term projects designed to provide the student with a wider range of community experiences. Most courses allow the student to experience a variety of hands-on skill experiences using classroom laboratory equipment and the school greenhouse. Computer technology is integrated ito all classroom work. Career opportunities are discussed in each course
