Agriscience Program Goals and Objectives

Goal 1 To update instruction in agriculture and expand programs about agriculture Goal 5 To provide the stimuli that will foster the spirit of free enterprise and develop creative entrepreneurship and innovation
Goal 2 To serve all people and groups equally and without discrimination Goal 6 To provide leadership and cultivate strong partnerships in the total educational system
Goal 3 To amplify and expand the "whole person" concept of education, including leadership, personal and interpersonal skills Goal 7 To elevate and extend our standards of excellence in classroom and laboratory instruction, supervised experience and student organizations.
Goal 4 To develop educational programs that continually and systematically respond to the trends and demands of the marketplace  


Agriscience Program Objectives

The following general objectives have been developed as goals for the agriscience program. The purpose of the program is to provide:
 

  1. Awareness of sequential vocational program offerings from orientation level to training level
  2. Awareness of post-secondary educational and vocational training programs.
  3. Awareness of career opportunities, both traditional and nontraditional.
  4. A format for students to explore their skills and abilities.
  5. An atmosphere in which students can explore interests and formulate career goals.
  6. Opportunity for students to determine skill and training necessary for achieving career goals.
  7. An opportunity for generalized skills to be applied to technical problems.
  8. A minimum competency level prior to entering training level courses.
  9. An atmosphere in which students can develop a positive self image.
  10. An introduction to "survival" skills, e.g., problem solving, transition, interpersonal relationships, leadership, decision making, etc.
  11. An introduction to development of positive work habits.
  12. Awareness of entry level employability skills.
  13. An opportunity for understanding technology and the changing world around us.
  14. Awareness of the free enterprise system and the role of the agriculture/horticulture worker in a capitalist society.
  15. An introduction to student organizations and the opportunity afforded by them.
  16. An awareness of the concept of learning as an ongoing, life-long process.
