Family & Consumer Sciences


The Family & Consumer Science Department helps individuals understand many aspects of the relationships between human beings and their environment. Students may explore many areas in this department for personal use and career direction. All courses place importance on relating skills learned in math, science, and communication arts to real world experiences. Learning is accomplished through the application of theories and research to practical, individual and group tasks. Students may explore or concentrate in child development, health careers, teaching careers, interior design, personal relationships, foods and nutrition, fashion and clothing technology. A Health and Human Services Internship is available to junior and senior students who are interested in a career in any of the areas listed above. ALL OF THE COURSES IN THIS DEPARTMENT FULFILL THE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLIED SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.
