Detailed Instructions

Step 1:  Who are you?

Complete the “paper and pencil” Career Inventory.  Do this neatly and carefully. As you do the “Graphing Your Personal Orientations” page, take note of where your strengths are found. You will be turning in all of these pages.

Step 2:  What are your career options?

Using the Internet, log onto www.princetonreview.com and register if you are a new user.  Otherwise sign in.  You need to register so that the web site can save your answers to the quiz and further direct you to career suited to you. To get to the career quiz (24 questions) that you must take:

Click on "Colleges"

Click on "Majors and Careers"

bullet

Click on "Career Quiz"

After answering the 24 questions and viewing the results--print out the final pages which should include:

Interest and Style Colors

bullet

Career List (which are hyperlinks to career descriptions)

Step 3:  Choosing careers to explore

Select 3 careers from the Career List (highlight them with highlighter marker).  If you exit and re-enter the web site, after you sign in, you can click on "Programs and Career", and click on seeing the results of your career quiz.

bulletRemember you are exploring three possible careers.  This is an opportunity to learn something NEW!
bulletIf there is a career you are interested in that is not on the list, choose it. Please make a note of it.


Step 4:  Researching your choices

Research each of your three career choices on the Internet.

bulletUse 2 or more sources.
bulletPrint out the first page only for each source. Take notes on any other information needed.

Step 5:  Putting it altogether

Use the Paper & Pencil inventory, www.princetonreview.com information and research to prepare summary pages for your selected career. Create nice-looking, well-organized pages for your chosen career.  Your pages should include the following:

 Pictures or graphics as necessary

bullet

Typed answers to the Career Search Sheet questions for ONE of your chosen careers

bullet

Create no less than two paragraphs to summarize how you feel the Paper & Pencil inventory and www.princetonreview.com information matched your selected career choices.  Do the results accurately reflect you?  Why do you think they do or don’t match?  Did this project provide you with new information; confirm old information, or something different?  What did you learn?
