Take Pride in Our Parks
Join Us!
Greetings,
There is a large group of students and staff in District 203 who have
become actively involved in the community's environment. S.A.F.E. (Student
Action for Earth) and P.I.O.P. (Pride in Our Parks) are the names of NNHS
volunteer programs that have grown to near 50 students and staff. We performed
over 600 hours of community service and earned the Brooks McCormick Environment
Award from the Conservation Foundation of Dupage County last year. Please
join us in making Naporville one of the leaders in environmental education
and participation.
A pannership has been formed with the Naporville Park District to help
with preservation of natural park areas in Naporville. One of our primary
objectives is to contact all schools in District 203 and see that there
are opportunities for students to participate and grow in a similar environmental
way. OUr two groups have also found that combining and coordinating efforts
can produce very gratifying results. Ultimately, we are trying to get each
school’s group to “Take Pride” in a natural park in the Naperville park
system and help provide three things for it:
a)increased education and awareness
b) maintenance and clean-up
c) restoration
Please see attached pannership guidelines for more information.
We know many schools do have programs that might be similar or related.
Great! Can we please find out what the name of your club/organization is
and who the sponsor(s) is (are)? We want to communicate and possibly work
with your group in the future, ffyou do not have a group but are interested,
please let us know. We will bring a small group of leaders to you and make
presentations providing ways that will help get things going.
