Emergency Closing Information

May 2008

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that the final weeks of the 2007-2008 school year are quickly approaching.  As you can see from the calendar, May is filled with a variety of events that celebrate the students and their learning that has occurred all year.  Naper School is not only proud of our students.  A number of our Naper people were honored at the District Awards Reception on April 22nd . Parent Mrs. Lisa Ramatowski, was recognized for her outstanding volunteer work.  Mrs. Debbie Selle, our secretary, and Mrs. Diane Pancoast our Reading Specialist, were recognized for their work to support learning.  Art teacher, Mrs. Leitha Walling was honored, along with our 5th grade team consisting of Mrs. Pam Skarr and Mr. Tom Auld.  We are so proud of the special people who are a part of our Naper community.

We would like to recognize and thank our volunteers who have done so many terrific things to benefit our students this year.  A very big thank you to all!  The Naper experience is so much richer because of your extra efforts.  Please join us for the Volunteer Luncheon on May 13th.  Details will arrive home soon.  We look forward to thanking you in person.

Another big thank you goes to our supportive Home and School Association and School/Family/Community Partnership Team.  Their hours of dedication have resulted in assemblies, classroom materials, field trips, books, laptops, Smartboards, and countless other enhancements to our students’ learning experiences.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I have just returned from hearing another educational researcher discuss the critical importance of summer reading.  Our LRC will be hosting a book fair the week of May 12th to help kick off a start for summer reading.    Look for more information to come in the near future!

Another long awaited event at Naper School is our upcoming Field Day and All School Picnic.  These fun-filled events are scheduled together for  May 21.

In these remaining weeks, our staff will be involved in discussing instructional organization for the upcoming year. Our May Institute day will be devoted to reconstructing our Naper Knight Code of Honor to better reflect our District Mission.  We will continue to strive to enhance instruction in order to best meet all our students’ needs.

Enjoy the end of the year activities!
