COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS:

COMPARISON

This is my paper to compare my quadrant to those of the year of 2005 and 2006 to my quadrants. In 2005 there were a lot of plants. These plants included the following: Big Bluestem, Indian Grass, Wild Bergamont, Prairie Cord Grass, Stiff Goldenrod, Rosinweed, Yellow Coneflower, Compass plant, Tall Coreopsis, and Mountain Mint. These plants were the top ten. In 2006 there was a little bit a change in the plants. The 2006 plants included: Big Bluestem, Compass plant, White Prairie Clover, New England Asters, Wild Bergamont, Prairie Dock, Sawtooth Sunflower, Mountain Mint, Switch Grass, and Stiff Goldenrod. Then when it came to my quadrant there were only 6 plants and 2 weeds. The plants that I found were the following: Indian grass, New England Aster, Prairie Dock, Rosinweed, White Prairie Clover, and the rest was grass.

When I took a look at the importance value between the years of 2005 and 2006 I saw the importance for the year of 2005 was greater. It wasn’t that  much greater in most of the plants except for the Big Bluestem. The importance value for the year 2005 was 70.41 and in 2006 it went up to 154.73. So the Big Bluestem increased a lot. All the other plants were right around the same amount. The dominance in 2005 between the two groups varied greatly. The dominance was much higher in 2005 than in 2006. There was more of the plants in 2005 than there was in 2006. When I looked at the importance and dominance for my quadrant I saw that the dominance didn’t differ much from the other quadrants I looked at from the years before. It was the importance value varied so much differently from both of the other quadrants that I studied. The importance value is more than both of the other years.
