EMERGENCY CLOSING OF SCHOOL

When severe weather conditions prevail, it may be necessary at times to close school or restrict bus service. If such a decision is made, radio stations indicated below will be notified. Please obtain this information from these sources, or you may call a recorded message at the administrative center at 420-6300.

STUDENT RECOGNITION

Each trimester students are recognized for academic excellence.
Outstanding Achievement in Subject: A minimum of four A's and the remainder B's
  Or A minimum of five A's, one C and the remainder B's

LANCER AWARD

Lancer Awards are presented five times throughout the school year. This award is based on a student's outstanding contributions to the school community, and his/her demonstration of the character trait's that encompass the Lancer P.R.I.D.E. program.

Awards recognizing student achievement in academics are presented at school assemblies held at the end of the year. Several of the awards are sponsored and presented by community and civic groups.

AWARDS ASSEMBLY

This year's program will be held on Friday, May 25, in the gymnasium. This will again be a dress-up day for all students and staff. Following is a partial listing of the awards to be presented: Back to the top

STUDENT COUNCIL

The Student Council develops student activities such as dances and food drives, builds school spirit, and suggests ways to examine school issues. Each social studies class elects one student representative and one alternate to participate in Student Council. Each grade elects its own officers, with the President of the 8th Grade Class Council presiding over the entire Council.

Student Council members will serve on one of the following committees: Spirit Committee, Social Committee, or the Community Service Committee.

LOCKERS

Students are assigned lockers either singly or with a partner and they are responsible for their lockers. They are expected to keep their lockers clean and orderly. Valuables and large sums of money should not be kept in school lockers. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Food items should never be kept in the locker overnight. Remember, lockers are the property of School District 203 and the school has the right to inspect these lockers whenever necessary.

SCHOOL STORE

Operating in front of room 26 each day, the school store machine provides pens, pencils and paper. Pencils and pens are 25 cents. Gel pens, mechanical pencils and paper pads are 50 cents.

MESSAGE BOARD

A message board is provided in the lobby for parent use. The parent may bring a message to the office counter and then write the student's name on the message board in the lobby. This alerts the student of the message left by the parents.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Announcements of school-wide events and information will be made at the beginning of each morning. A student bulletin containing important items is published daily and posted or announced in each room.

TELEPHONE CALLS

A pay phone is provided in the lobby for student use before and after school. A student must secure permission from the office to use the phones during school hours. Phones in the office area are not available for student use except in emergencies.

LOST AND FOUND

A large plastic box marked "LOST AND FOUND" is located in the Tile Gym. Valuables should be taken to the office. All other items should be placed in this box.

JUNIOR HIGH ATTENDANCE

Parents of students, or those having legal custody, are required to report student absences to the school prior to the start of the school day.  To report an absent, call the school at 420-6370 ext 6009 (6th grade), ext 7009 (7th grade), or ext 8009 (8th grade).  If they do not report the absence, the school will call the parent or guardian. Excessive absences and tardies will be handled on an individual basis.
