The reading specialist at the junior high provides a variety of services.
In a collaborative effort, she works with teachers to develop and promote
literacy and thinking strategies in the classroom. As a diagnostician,
she administers both group and individual evaluations of reading achievement
and recommends activities to build comprehension. For intervention, individual
students and small groups meet with her to receive instruction and build
literacy competencies. In addition, the reading specialist works with staff
and parents to promote events that support literacy.
If parents have questions about the role of the reading specialist or
concerns about their child’s literacy that they would like to discuss,
they may contact Lincoln’s reading specialist at 630 420-6370.
