Overview of Seventh Grade Science Curriculum

 

Goals:        

Ø     To increase student understanding of science concepts and the nature of science.   

Ø     To increase science related skills.

Ø     To broaden the understanding of the relationship between science and technology.

Ø     To engage students in science-based problem solving.

Ø     To engage students in science-related social issues.

 

First Trimester

 

Ø     Environmental Science- A focus on the different systems that function throughout nature

Ø     Diversity- What are we made of and how does that make us different from other living things?

 

Second Trimester

 

Ø     Physics- Students will focus on the forces of the world and how they affect things

Ø     Astronomy- Most of our studies will be covering the different things occurring in our solar system

 

Third Trimester

 

Ø     Chemistry- Properties of matter and the identification of characteristic properties are the priorities for this unit.
