Social Science - World Geography

Maureen Jensik

Seventh Grade Panthers

Social Science is the combination of the field’s; history, geography, behavioral science, economy, and political science. History helps you see the links between past and present.  Geography answers the questions: Where is it? What is it like there? Who lives there and what do they do? How did they get there? And how is the place like other places?.  Behavioral Science explores who people are, their customs, beliefs, and their way of thinking. The economy of a country is the way its people use its resources to meet their needs.  Political science is the study of governments.

It is the goal of Social Science in seventh grade to give students an understanding of our and other cultures.  The seventh grade curriculum covers cultures around the world.   The trimesters are divided into particular themes with guiding questions, and concepts in an effort to organize and highlight specific cultural case studies. As part of the developed curriculum students in seventh grade will experience an assessment at the end of second trimester based on trimester 2’s theme.
