About the program…

The Band program at Lincoln emphasizes a graduated and systemic approach to a comprehensive music education.  Music is selected for performance based on generic, stylistic, diverse, and musical interest.

Performance groups include the 8th Grade Band and the 7th Grade Band, under the direction of Mr. Lipari, and the 6th grade band under the direction of Mr. Frendeway.

Each student enrolled in the program receives one small group lesson per week, and three full ensemble rehearsals per week.  The small group lesson schedule is published weekly and revolves through different class periods from week to week.  The full ensemble rehearsal schedule is fixed and alternates between ‘White’ and ‘Green’ week schedules to accommodate students who wish to participate in orchestra or chorus in addition to band.

Participation in Jazz band is also available at LJHS, starting later in the school year.  Mr. Lipari and Mr. Frendeway each lead a band.  These ensembles rehearse before school and are considered extra-curricular.  Should a student elect to participate in one of the jazz ensembles all rehearsals and performances are required in order to sustain membership.

We are looking forward to an exciting and very musical year with your young musicians!
