FACS helps the individual to participate in experiences that will lead to successful independent and family life, as well as prepare for a career.  The curriculum implements the Illinois State goals for Family and Consumer Science.

Our four outcomes statements are:

The curriculum is arranged in strands that flow through to the high school.

*Fashion Merchandising/Marketing            *Food Science

*Human Growth and Development            *Interior Design

*Careers                                                   *Nutrition and Food Preparation

The program strives to empower our students with the lifelong employability and useful skills of creativity, goal setting, organization, time management, cooperation, teamwork, quality performance and evaluation.

The FACS curriculum continues with the program that was initially funded with a USDA Team Nutrition grant, "Balance Your Talents."  Nutrition education is vital for growing middle school students.  FACS is the only middle school curriculum that provides a "hands on" opportunity for integrating nutrition into a healthy lifestyle.

Students in the FACS classes benefit from education partnerships with the University of Illinois Food Science and Human Nutrition Department and the American Heart Association.

Don't leave school without the FACS!
