One of the biggest struggles of a sixth grader is to be organized and to get all of the assignments turned in on time. We spend a lot of time trying to teach and help students to be organized. Here is some important information that is helpful for parents to know.
· Students must write all assignments in the assignment notebook and bring it to class every day.
· Each teacher has the assignment posted in the classroom for students to copy down.
· Parents should check the assignment notebook and the student folders for “Incomplete
Work” sheets indicating missing work.
· The assignment notebook contains general school information that is helpful and useful.
· A supply list is given to all students. An additional copy is available upon request.
· Students are expected to bring all required materials to class each day.
· Replacement supplies need to be stored in the student’s locker.
· If a student is having a locker problem that will cause him or her to be late for class, he/she
needs to report the problem to the teacher. The teacher will advise the student what to do.
· Students need to think of their locker as a storage cabinet to store their books, jacket, extra
school supplies, and more.
· Students may not have time to go to their locker after every period, and are encouraged to
bring their books and supplies for two periods.
· Students should not go to their lockers during class. All supplies should be brought to class.
· Students are expected to come to class with all assignments completed each day.
· It is important for students to have a designated time and location to do their homework.
· The assignments are listed on the web at http://schoolnotes.com/60565/lincoln.html.
· Students should take an “Incomplete Work” slip when any assignment is not ready for class
when it is due. The pink copy of this form is then brought home for a parent signature.
· Once the pink copy of the “Incomplete Work” slip is signed by a parent/guardian, it must be
stapled to the assignment and turned in to the teacher the following day in order to receive
credit.
· It is the student’s responsibility to complete and turn in all make-up work. Any make-up work that is not completed before the end of the unit is a zero. An “Absent Student” form should be picked up when students return to school. This records the assignment as an absence until the work is completed.
