About the Panther Team
- The Panther Team Mission Statement is to provide an integrated curriculum that addresses the needs of academically gifted students in grades 7 and 8 including:
- Academic challenges with students as partners in planning and assessment
- Social opportunities with academic and grade level peers.
- Emotional support to enhance positive self-esteem and self-awareness.
- Authentic experiences and collaboration with the larger community.
- Panther Team Belief Statements:
- Each individual has unique and exceptional talents.
- Challenges are met through persistent effort.
- The exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experience is essential to success.
- Key Components of Organization and Implementation:
- Multiage team for expanded and meaningful interaction.
- Common space and flexible scheduling.
- Continuity of instruction for two years.
- Student Responsibilities
- To contribute to the class in a positive manner.
- To be self-motivated.
- To interact with peers and staff in a positive way.
- To complete work at the appropriate level and in a timely manner.
Absences
- Due to illness or early dismissal
- Use homework hotline, student buddy, mailbox, or website. Record assignments and due dates.
See student handbook for school policy regarding make-up work. Long-term assignment dates will hold.
- Due to in-school music lesson, etc.
- Report to class first. Complete work missed and be responsible for assigned work on time.
Homework is not negotiable. Late homework is always accepted, however, there will be a penalty.

- Standards - based on comparison to others.
- Expectations - based on placement in program.

Some Grading Standards
- Completes work on time
- Exhibits a positive work ethic
- Seeks assistance when needed
- Work reflects critical thinking, support of opinions, pride in presentation
- The amount of time invested does not determine grade (more is not always better)
