·        Mrs. Laura Golebiewski is very happy to join the NOVA team this year teaching her favorite subjects, science and mathematics. 

·        She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, an M.B.A. and this summer completed her Masters in Education courses at DePaul University. 

·        Along with her husband Jerry, enjoys going to visit her college-aged children at Mizzou and watching the Tigers win.

·        Loves to spend time reading and sewing; tries to exercise with yoga and walking.

·        Has lived in six different states and 12 different towns.

Mathematics Curriculum

Numbers and Operations: Application of problem solving strategies involving Fractions, Decimals, Percents and Integers focusing on multiplying fractions and mixed numbers, computing using order of operations, multiplying multi-digit decimals

 

 Measurement:  Application of problem solving strategies involving customary and metric measurement, focusing on perimeter, area, volume angle measures and ratios and proportions.

 

Science Curriculum

Inquiry based science units in life, physical and earth science.

 Unit 1:  Introduction to Science Inquiry

             What is scientific literacy?

 Unit 2:  Physical Science/Chemistry

             What is matter?

 Unit 3:  Earth Science

             How is the earth’s present the key to the past and future?

 Unit 4:  Life Science

             What is life?  How are cells the basic building blocks of all living things?
