During the course of the school year, each team chooses a service project to take part in.  This year the HEROES will be raising money for Ada S. McKinley Community Services, Inc.  I have the honor of being a committee member for the Educational Services Division of this organization.  Revie Sorey, a former Chicago Bear, is in charge of this division and asked me to sit on the board and help plan and organize fundraising events.  If you were to meet Revie, you would see one of the most caring and compassionate people around.  He is constantly doing what he can to give back to the community and strives to make a difference in the lives of everyone he meets.  I have had the pleasure of being a close family friend of his, and his caring nature is contagious.

This year I have asked Revie to come to school to meet the HEROES and kick-off our service project.  In FEBRUARY the HEROES will be BOWLING for PLEDGES to raise money for Ada S. McKinley which is one of the largest human service organizations in n n Chicago.  The Education Division services three programs:

-          Youth Academics- Which prepares 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students for high school.

-          Upward Bound- Provides individualized mentoring designed to help high school juniors and seniors make a smooth transition into college.

-          Talent Search- Helps guide students through the application and transition process into college.

Besides these programs they also have a Foster Care/Adoption Division, they have housing and training for adults with disabilities, and they provide crisis intervention and counseling for those in need. I believe in the work of Ada S. McKinley which is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children who otherwise would have no hope of succeeding in the future without with this intervention.  We are looking forward to helping children reach their dreams and achieve their goals.  Please help make this project a success!
