Measurement

The following topics will be covered:

• Metric and customary system
• Compare linear, square, and cubic units
• Use a protractor, ruler, and compass
• Use scales with maps and models
• Rates

Geometry

The following topics will be covered:

• Attributes of plane figures
• Congruent and similar figures
• Ratio of figures’ sides and angles
• Translate between two dimensional and three dimensional figures
• Perimeter, area, and volume of basic shapes
• Cartesian Coordinate graphs
• Tessellations

The Honors class is geometry based Pre-Algebra.  So, all of the objectives will be embedded within activities using geometry.

Grading Policy

            Grades are taken for tests, quizzes, and homework.  Then each category is weighted.  Major projects are considered a test because it is an authentic assessment.    Most of the homework is based on completeness.    Points are received when the assignment is complete, labeled, work shown, neat, and in pencil.  Late homework can be turned in tomorrow for partial credit.
