Dear Parents/Guardians,

 Welcome to a new school year and one that is a milestone for Highlands School.  We are celebrating 50 years of educating kids – 1957-2007.  A few special events have been planned for the anniversary; be sure to mark your calendar on Sunday, September 23 as we are holding an Open House Celebration for all current and former students, parents and teachers!

 This handbook contains important information about our school and District 203.  It is my hope that many of your questions will be answered in this handbook.  The colored section refers specifically to Highlands School and the white section contains general information regarding Naperville’s elementary schools.

 Please take time to review this handbook.  Information on reporting absences, district medication policy, visiting school, bringing children to school, Home and School, SFCP and special programs are included.  Should you have questions after reading this handbook, please contact the office.  I will review some information with students as I visit classes during the first two weeks of school.

 Included in this handbook are a district school calendar and a Highlands School calendar.  These are current as of the date of printing, your most accurate source for calendars is our website www.naperville203.org/highlands.  Our District calendar is now interactive and very informative, be sure to take a look at this new format www.naperville203.org  under “calendar of events.”
