·        master multi-digit addition and subtraction

·        master basic math facts to 12

·        become familiar with various polygons and geometric solids and explore the relationships as they sort, build, and make patterns

·        learn to use customary and metric measuring tools

·        learn to analyze situations that call for multiplication and perform calculations using pictures or arrays, counting multiples, and multiplication facts

·        Investigate 2-D geometric patterns that fold to make 3-D shapes

·        demonstrate an understanding of division using the divisibility rules of 2,5, and 10; through repeated subtraction; and through arrays

·        demonstrate an understanding of fractions when measuring to the nearest one quarter and one half inch

·        demonstrate knowledge of relationships between coins and bills

Fourth Grade

·        master basic math facts to 12

·        demonstrate an understanding of multiples through 12

·        determine factors of numbers up to 100

·        classifying numbers according to prime factors or composite

·        understand and use the divisibility rules of 3,4,6, and 9

·        demonstrate proficiency with multiplication and division including: multi-digit multiplication, division with one and two digit divisors, multiplication and division with money, using clusters

·        understand the value of the digits and relative magnitude of numbers 1 to 1,000,00,000

·        understand and apply characteristics of 2-D and 3-D geometric shapes by; identifying, comparing, classifying and analyzing attributes, building a 3-D shape from a 2-D view

·        investigate, describe and reason about the results of subdividing, combining, and transforming shapes using models and representation

Fifth Grade

·        read and write decimals to the thousandths place

·        identify digits in the tenths, hundredths, and thousandths place

·        write and name common fractions as a part of a whole or as part of a collection

·        convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions

·        compare and order fractions, whole numbers, and mixed numbers including fractions with unlike denominators

·        express fractions in lowest terms

·        recognize and use common fraction, decimal, and percent equivalence

·        identify and describe relationships between quantities where one quantity increases as the other decreases, or vice versa

·        use a variety of data collection sources to demonstrate an understanding of organizing and analyzing data

·        calculate mean, median, mode and range with and without the use of calculators

·        study probability by exploring all possible outcomes of a single event

·        determine whether an outcome is likely, unlikely, certain or impossible to occur
