PARADE

On Wednesday, May 23,2006 the  Earth Day Parade took place. The parade was led by the Naperville Police Department.  Next came the grand marshals. Grand marshals of the parade were Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Swager and Mrs. Vasiliw.

The Elmwood band followed. One member of each classroom carried the American flag. Students and student  floats (wagons) followed. Some floats  had a patriotic or environmental theme. Many featured recycled materials.

The parade proceeded from the front of the school down Spruce to Hemlock, to Elmwood, and back to Magnolia Lane.

The parade is an annual event to honor Earth Day. It is followed by an awards ceremony that takes place around the flagpole in the front lawn.  Students who have participated in special events, activities or school sponsored clubs and organizations are recognized for their accomplishments during the school year.

The Speaker named each students group or special activity/event.  Students who participated in each group stood up and remained standing in place while the speaker recognized their accomplishments.
