Truthful-George Washington
George Washington was born
in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He spent many of his boyhood years
studying mathematics and working on his family farm.
During the 1760s, George
became interested in politics and by 1789 he became our first president.
One of the most famous
stories about George Washington may not even be true! It was said
that when Washington was a boy, he chopped down a cherry tree. When
his father asked who chopped the tree down, Washington said, "It was me
father, I can not tell a lie". While this story may not be true,
it sums up Washington's life. One of the reasons he was elected president
was because people felt like they trust him. They felt that he would
run the country to the best of his ability and always do what was right.
Many people think that George Washington was one of our finest presidents...and
that's the truth!
