What does it mean to be persistent?
To be persistent means to never give up, to stick with what you have set
out to do.
Why is it important to be persistent?
It is important to be persistent so that you finish things that you set out
to do. Like loyalty, you stick with it, even when the going gets tough. If you
are not persistent, many jobs may never get finished!
How do I demonstrate that I am persistent?
Being persistent starts with a goal, an idea of what you want to do, and then
making a plan on how you want to accomplish your goal. Finally, go for it!
Questions
- Can you think of a job that you have wanted to quit, but were persistent by
finishing it?
Being persistent begins with an idea of what you want to do-your goal-and
why it is important to you. Then you are ready to act.
Concentrate on accomplishing your goal and try to resist distractions as
you use willpower, discipline, and endurance in moving toward your goal.
Teaching persistence is not about making a child perform a task; it's about
developing his/her willpower to persevere. Continue to select projects and
chores that your child can start, work through, and successfully complete.
Your personal example, of course, is a powerful tool. A parent who make life
look too easy does his child no favor. You want your child to know that mom
and dad give 100 percent as a matter of routine.
