What does it mean to be accountable?
If you are accountable, people can count on you to do
something without having to remind you to do it.
If your mom asks you to clear the table, she should be
able to count on you to do as you were asked.
Why is it important to be accountable?
It is important because others can count on you to do the job you
were asked to do.
Just think how you would feel if your parents did not pick you up
after school when they said they would or if they did not ever put
your lunch in your back pack even though they promised they would!
How do I demonstrate that I am accountable?
You make a promise to another person to do something and then
you do your best to fulfill your promise.
Questions
What does it look like to be accountable when:
- it's your turn to set the table and you would rather watch T.V.?
- you have to do your homework and your friend asks you to come out to play?

What does it mean to be accountable?
Why is important to be accountable?
It is important to be accountable because others need to be able to
count on you to do your job in a dependable way. Your ability to be
accountable can make a big difference in the sense of peacefulness/safety
in other people's lives. (for example: what would happen in your family
if your parents couldn't be counted on to grocery shop or to drive the car
safely?)
How do I demonstrate that I am accountable?
You demonstrate that you are accountable by making agreements
that you can keep. You agree to do things that others count on, then
you do everything in your power to see that the agreement is kept.
