Annette Grundy
Class of 1981

Alumni Recognition Award, 2006

During Annette’s time at Naperville Central, she was extremely involved in numerous activities.  She even spent her sophomore through senior years as the class president.  Other things she enjoyed doing at Central included participating in the musicals, planning dances, and being in S.A.C (Student Advisory council).  Like many graduates of Central, she believes that the teachers played a great role in her educational experience.  After her four years, she went to college in Oklahoma to pursue her career dream in entertainment business.

At the Oklahoma University, Annette was the first Miss Black Ebony Homecoming Queen and a president of her sorority, Greek chapter Theta Mu.  She was involved as the publicity chair in 1985 for the OU homecoming committee.

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a major in broadcast journalism, Grundy started an internship as a CNN newsroom intern in Washington D.C.  This helped launch her first job on “Larry King Live.”  Several years later, she left CNN in 1990 to start on the live morning show, “Fox Morning News.”  As well as working for news programs, Grundy has even produced some well known shows such as, “Jenny Jones”, “Jerry Springer”, “Judge Judy.”  She feels very fortunate that she has been able to spend the past 20 years doing something that she’s always loved: creating entertainment.
