William C. Anderson, a diverse and hardworking individual, graduated from Naperville Central in 1974. William was very involved in his years at Central. He participated in the football program for four years, and wrestling for one year. Along with being on these teams, he managed to achieve the grades to be on the Honor Roll. While at Central he stated that his favorite memories included his undefeated sophomore football season, his media and filmmaking class with Mr. Gaydos, and placing a 55 gallon drum on the flag pole for an extra credit question in Mr. Hill’s class.

 

After graduating high school, William continued his education at Knox College from 1974 until 1978. Here he earned his Bachelors Degree in Art. While in college he continued to work at Oswald’s Pharmacy until 1978. He then went on to become an apprentice Welder for AXLR in 1978. He did this for one year and then used his artistic ability to become a studio ceramic potter for seven years. In 1979 he decided to return to Oswald’s Pharmacy where he continues to be successful. William became the co-owner of not only Oswald’s but Andersons Bookshops and Reality Fitness, where his wife Nikki is as well. William’s hard work in his occupation led him to be recognized greatly in our community. 1n 1978 in the students category, William received 1st place at the Naperville Woman’s Club Art Show. His many accomplishments in the community paid off as he was chosen to be Downtown Naperville Man of the Year in 2000. The following year he was awarded Illinois Small Business of the Year.  He also won this award for Andersons Bookshop in 2001 and Oswald’s again in 2005.

         

William Anderson put a great amount of time and effort into the community. He was a member of many councils and boards to make our town what it is today. While in college, William contributed greatly to his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. He was the historian, pledge trainer, and treasurer. After college he joined the CANDO, Central Area Naperville Development Organization. He became the Vice President in 1998 until 2001. He contributed greatly to the Rotary Club of Naperville as the Board of Directors and eventually the President. Along with these boards, William shows his positive personality as a Naperville Park District soccer coach from 1993 until 1995. William has worn many hats and has had many responsibilities. William Anderson is a very influential figure and is respected greatly. He was a very well rounded student. Balancing athletics, grades, and involvement, he managed to make the best out of his high school years.
