The CAI Lab:
Computer Assisted Instruction Lab

PURPOSE
District 203’s goal is to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication. Access to the District’s Electronic Networks is for the purpose of education or research, and must be consistent with the educational objectives of the District. To this purpose NCHS has a Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) Lab located in the LRC. 

RESOURCES & SCHEDULE
This is a multi-purpose computer lab for student/staff use as individuals and as entire classes. All computers are networked and have access to the Internet through a high-speed connection.  Staff can reserve the lab or a specific number of computers by logging onto the school's LAN global drive/staff_faculty folder/CAI Lab Schedule.

The lab consists of:
bullet 35 computers,
bullet 2 flat-bed scanners,
bullet 3 laser printers, and
bullet 1 color laser printer.
The software available on the computers consists of:
bullet productivity tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
bullet FrontPage (web page design)
bullet curricular programs (Writer’s Workbench [writing analysis],
bullet Music Lessons I and II,
bullet Geometry Sketchpad,
bullet Derive for Math,
bullet Tri-fit [a physical education program]) and
bullet Discover [a career exploratory program]. 

The rules include:

bulletStudents should remember they must sign-in to use the lab as they enter the area.
bulletThere is no food or beverages allowed in the lab.
bulletStudents are also not permitted to use personal email or play games on school equipment. (No e-mail, No games)
bulletThere is a ten-page print limit (per visit) for all computer printers.  A five-cent per page charge may be levied if a student is caught exceeding this limit.  Papers which exceed ten pages may be printed, but contact the supervisor before printing! 
(It is suggested you do a File/Print Preview to gage the number of pages you need to print BEFORE you hit "print"!)

HOURS & STAFF
The CAI lab is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. daily and is staffed by:
