All About Ms. Griffith
A bit of my history:
I grew up in San Diego, California - but right before I started high school
my family moved to Wisconsin. We were only there a year and then we moved to
Illinois - all of this moving went on for a while. Long story short - I went to
three different high schools. I graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in
2000.
After graduating high school, I went on to
the University of Tampa, in Florida, where I majored in Marine Biology. I
finished in 2003, and then decided I really wanted to teach. So I came
home and received my Master's in Education from Aurora University. I student
taught in the fall of 2005 at West Aurora High School, and then began teaching
here at Naperville Central in January of 2006. This will be my second year at
Central and I am looking forward to it!
This year I am also sponsoring two clubs -
the Multicultural club and the UAC breakdancing group. Both have been a blast so
far. I am also part of the adult staff for the Naperville Snowball retreat,
which is tons of fun.
Hobbies:
My favorite thing to do is to travel; this
past summer I spent a few weeks in New Mexico visiting some bats, tarantulas,
and friends. I also love visiting anywhere warm - I never
did get used to the weather here after moving from California.
When I'm home, I try to spend as much time
in Chicago as I can. I also enjoy running, although I am not quite ready for
races or marathons. Additionally, I enjoy anything to do with sharks or giant
squid.
