Dynamic Earth Systems
Geology/Physics Performance Task Assessment (2006/2007)
Here's Your GOAL...

Demonstrate understanding of how forces, waves, and energy influence the tectonic activity, weathering and erosion of your chosen location.

Umbrella Question:  How does the transfer of energy alter systems?

Enduring Understanding: Forces, waves and energy influence the geosphere, past, present and future.

Topical Understandings:

  1. Forces, waves and energy influence changes in the geosphere through tectonic activity.
  2. Forces, waves and energy influence changes in the geosphere through weathering and erosion.

Essential Questions:

  1. If we know it, can we control it (should we control it)?  Can we predict?
  2. Plate Movement:  Good or Bad?
  3. Should man manage the forces of nature?  To what extent?  How do we determine to what extent?
