Chemistry is an inquiry- based course that examines matter and the changes it undergoes. Experiment and activities are used to introduce concepts including the structure of atoms and chemical compounds, the relationships among the elements on the periodic table, chemical and physical transformations, and the measurement and calculations of chemical quantities. Students who complete this course will develop an understanding of interconnections among the sciences, technology, society, and the environment.
Regarding Chemistry, Algebra I is a prerequisite for either Enriched or Regular Chemistry. Students should have a stronger Algebra background (B or above) to take Enriched. Students will not be allowed to switch classes after the 10 day drop period. Students will not be allowed to enroll in Regular Chemistry their freshman year.

Prerequisites: Dynamic Earth Systems or 1 year of high school science and Algebra 1
