Enriched Chemistry is an inquiry-based course investigating the composition of matter and the changes it undergoes. The course is rigorous in both pace and depth of study. Laboratory work will provide hands-on experiences which reinforce concepts and theories presented in class. It will provide a sound foundation for further coursework within the sciences. Students considering this course should be self-directed learners with strong reading comprehension skills. Students should consider their entire schedule when selecting a weighted course.
Regarding switching from Enriched Chemistry to Dynamic Earth Systems, students should be aware that these are two entirely different courses. Switching classes is highly discouraged as students will be behind in Dynamic Earth Systems. Students will not be allowed to switch classes after the 10 day drop period. Please make sure that incoming Freshmen strongly meet requirements before signing up for Enriched.
Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Semesters: 2 Credit: 1 (weighted)
Prerequisites: The completion of Algebra I (grade of B or higher recommended) 9th graders will also need 8th grade teacher recommendation.
