CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Always be prepared for class. This means
having: your textbook; a notebook exclusively for math; your school
planner; a graphing calculator (if purchasing a new calculator the Math
Department recommends the TI 84); and something to write with everyday.
- You are considered tardy if you are not in the classroom at the tone. Also, you should be ready to start class immediately.
- You will be given an assigned seat. From time to time, I may make changes.
- Do not bring any food or soda into the classroom (this includes candy).
Water is the only drink allowed!
- You are responsible for keeping a running total of your points in this
course. After each quiz, test, or homework check, you will recalculate your
grade. With this system, you will have the opportunity to verify your scores
with what I post on the internet.
- If you have a pre-planned absence, you must
have your daily work completed on the day of your return. See me ahead
of time for your assignment.
- If you have an excused absence for one day,
you are responsible for the daily work on the day following your
return. If the day you miss is a review day or a test/quiz day you will
be expected to take the test/quiz the day you return.
GRADING FORMAT:
Your grade will be determined by your performance on homework, quizzes, and unit tests.
 |
Homework:
I will assign homework almost every day. I will check periodically with
the use of homework quizzes to monitor your progress.
Each homework quiz will consist of four problems (2 randomly chosen
problems from your homework assignments and 2 original problems similar
to your assigned homework). For full credit on each problem you must
provide sufficient work and the correct result. Homework makes up 10%
of your grade. |
 |
Quizzes:
In order for both you and I to assess your grasp of new material, I
will give a quiz almost every week. The point value of each quiz will
vary. (10-30 points for quizzes) |
 |
Tests:
At the end of every unit I will assess your learning of the major
concepts. The point value on each test will vary. (50-80 points for
tests) |
