INFORMATION:

Tests and Quizzes:                    We will usually have one or two quizzes per chapter.  At the conclusion of each there will be a chapter test.  Each chapter test will be made up of two portions- a calculator portion and a non-calculator portion.  Tests and quizzes must be completed in pencil.

Homework:                              Homework is an important part of the learning process and, as such, will be assigned most days.  Each homework assignment will be worth 5 points.  Homework assignments will either be checked or collected at the beginning of each class period.  Home work points will be awarded for both completion and for accuracy.  Late homework assignments will be checked for completion and accuracy for 2 points.

Participation:                             Class participation is expected on a daily basis.  It is important that we all share our questions and ideas as we continue to strive to become more complex thinkers.  Treat others in this class how you would like to be treated!

Tardies, Absences:                   Tardies, attendance, and discipline policies spelled out in your student handbooks will be strictly enforced.  Each class will begin promptly when the bell rings.  I expect students to be in their seats and ready to begin at that time.  Students will be given 2 “warning” tardies before detentions are assigned.  After the 5th tardy, referrals will be written.

Make-up Work:                       If you are absent from class, you are responsible for finding out what you missed.  If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test, you will be expected to take the quiz or test on the day that you return to class.  If you are absent before a quiz or test, you will have the number of days you were absent to make up the missing work.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT FIELD TRIPS ARE EXCUSED ABSENCES, BUT STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORK DONE IN CLASS ON THE DAY OF THE TRIP.  NO MAKE-UP TIME IS GIVEN FOR ABSENCE DUE TO A FIELD TRIP.

Extra Help:                               If you have questions or concerns that you would like to address with me outside of class, or need any extra help, I am available before and after school.  Do not wait until you are a week behind before you ask for help.
