Grading Policy

Your semester grade will be a cumulative point total based on the following:

Homework: Homework is an important part of the learning process and will be assigned everyday. Each homework assignment will be worth 4 points where you may receive a score from 0, 2 or 4 based on completeness and effort of your work. To receive credit for an incomplete problem you must show your attempt. You will be allowed to make up one late assignment for half credit each chapter. Late means not ready to be graded when checked. A homework quiz will be given one or two times during the chapter that will be graded for accuracy; therefore, it is important to ask questions and make corrections.

Graded Assignments and Projects: Throughout the semester, you will be turning in assignments to be graded. These may be worksheets, projects, group assignments, labs, etc.

Quizzes: Announced quizzes will be given once or twice every chapter.

Tests: A test will be given at the end of each chapter to make sure that you understand the major objectives presented in the unit. EACH CHAPTER TEST WILL BE MADE UP OF TWO PORTIONS-A CALCULATOR PART AND A NON-CALCULATOR PORTION. TESTS AND QUIZZES MUST BE COMPLETED IN PENCIL.

Final Exam: The semester will conclude with a cumulative exam, which will cover all material presented during the semester.

Extra Credit: You will have opportunities to earn math money every day based on your classroom participation. Each dollar awarded is worth ¼ of a point. Money can be cashed in for points at the conclusion of each chapter.

ACADEMIC HONESTY

It is expected that all the materials submitted for this course are the actual work of the individual whose name appears on the materials.
