Required Materials
Grading Policy
Your semester grade will be a cumulative point total based on the following:
Homework: Homework is an important part of the learning process and will be assigned everyday. Each homework assignment will be based on the role of a die. If we role a 1 or 4 homework will be collected and graded, if we role a 2 homework will neither collected nor graded, if we role a 3 you will be assigned a group homework quiz, if we role a 5 homework will not be collected however everyone will receive full credit, and if we role a 6 you will be assigned an individual homework quiz. Every assignment is worth up to 3 points. If you are absent your homework will be collected and graded. HOMEWORK MUST BE COMPLETED IN PENCIL AND GRADED IN PEN!!!
Graded Assignments and Projects: Throughout the semester, you will be turning in assignments to be graded. These may be worksheets, projects, group assignments, labs, etc.
Quizzes: Announced quizzes will be given once or twice every chapter.
Tests: A test will be given at the end of each chapter to make sure that you understand the major objectives presented in the unit. EACH CHAPTER TEST WILL BE MADE UP OF TWO PORTIONS-A CALCULATOR PART AND A NON-CALCULATOR PORTION. TESTS AND QUIZZES MUST BE COMPLETED IN PENCIL.
Final Exam: The semester will conclude with a cumulative exam, which will cover all material presented during the semester.
Extra Credit: You will have opportunities to earn math money every day based on your classroom participation. Each dollar awarded is worth ¼ of a point. Money can be cashed in for points at the conclusion of each chapter or as bathroom/locker passes.
ACADEMIC HONESTY
It is expected that all the materials submitted for this course are the actual work of the individual whose name appears on the materials. Violations of academic honesty include but are not limited to cheating, plagiarism, sharing calculators and receiving help on a test or quiz. A student found guilty of academic dishonesty is subject to failure for the assignment in question of failure of the course.
Class Expectations
Materials: You are expected to bring the required materials, listed on the front, to class with you daily.
Calculator Policy: Since a graphing calculator is a requirement for this course it is expected that the calculators will be used appropriately in the classroom (NO GAMES). The instructors reserve the right to a calculator away or erase the memory of the calculator if it is not used properly.
Make-up Work: If you are absent from class, please check the make-up folder on the podium upon your return. If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test, you will be expected to take the quiz or test on the day that you return to class. If you are absent before the quiz or test, you will have the same number of days you were absent to make up the missing work.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT FIELD TRIPS ARE EXCUSED ABSENCES, BUT STUDENTS
ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORK DONE IN CLASS ON THE DAY OF THE TRIP. NO MAKEUP TIME IS GIVEN FOR ABSENCE DUE TO A
FIELD TRIP.
Promptness: BE ON TIME!! Please be in your seat and ready to begin when the bell rings. You are allowed to be tardy three times per quarter. The fourth tardy will result in a 20-minute detention; the fifth tardy will result in a 40-minute detention and the sixth tardy along with any further tardiness will result in a referral to the dean.
Consideration: In this classroom you are responsible for respecting other’s feelings, opinions and belongings. There is no tolerance for harassment and any consequent behavior will result in a detention or referral to the dean.

We strongly suggest that you ask us for extra help even if you are the
slightest bit confused. Questions are
encouraged at anytime!! I will be
available in the math office (room 62) before or after school.
