Course: Freshman Literacy
Who should take this course?
Freshman students who are reading
below grade level and could benefit from assistance in Cultures and Patterns
of Communication should take this course. Students need to be self-motivated
and have a desire to improve their reading, organization, testing, and
time-management skills.

required of all students who take this course:
All students are required to report
on independent reading in a manner that helps invoke a love of reading. In
addition, all students are required to make a portfolio that prepares them for
final exams and demonstrates their ability to organize and synthesize
information.
Required reading:
Students will read a minimum of two
self-selected novels per quarter.
Course-specific policies:
Students are expected to actively
participate and contribute to class discussions and assignments.
Student expectations:
Students need to collaborate well
with others and be supportive in assisting with course content assignments.
