Advanced Acting

Who Should Take This Course—Anyone who whishes to expand on the basic skills learned in acting, hone their scene study skills, develop an appreciation of acting as a profession, and study whole scripts including Shakespeare  and Moliere.

Umbrella Questions—What skills are required for scene study and acting in full length productions? How is the preparation required for a full length show different from that required for a scene? What acting skills are required for Classical plays, Shakespearian plays, French Restoration Drama and Modern theatre?

Course Specific Requirements—Students must be ready to perform on assigned days; no make-up will be available.

Student Expectations

  • Read assigned scripts and scenes
  • Rehearse
  • Memorize lines and blocking
  • Take part in classroom improvisations
  • Take part in classroom discussions

Other relevant and important information

Advanced Acting is similar to Acting in that the students are required to read scripts, memorize scenes and perform in front of others. In Advanced Acting, we move ahead and study movement, breathing for the stage, and detailed character analysis. In addition to scene study, we focus on whole scripts ranging from Classical Greek and Roman, to Modern authors.
