COOPERATIVE WORK TRAINING AGRISCIENCE INTERNSHIP

Cooperative Work Training is a career exploration program for students who have had little academic training for an occupation but hope to gain valuable work experience through job placement. The Technology Internship is for students who have some basic skills in a technology field (AutoCAD, auto, etc.) and who can gain from on-the-job experience. Students can work in a wide variety of jobs and use these experiences to help them in the future. Classroom instruction focuses around skills required in finding jobs as well as researching different career areas. Each student will develop an individual portfolio that will help him or her show employers/colleges their own unique skills. Students are encouraged to participate in competitive events at State and National Contests at the Skills USA-VICA Olympics as well as a class community service project. Guest speakers help answer questions about future employment trends, labor laws, job safety, employer/labor relations, and investing for retirement.

(1 credit for class and 1 for 540 hours of work experience)
Prerequisite: Age 16 by the first day of the semester.
AGRISCIENCE INTERNSHIP

Internship is designed for students with a career interest in ag business or agriscience. Students receive credit for the related class and credit for their job experience. Students gain firsthand knowledge through on-the-job training at a local business. The teacher assists the student in locating an appropriate placement. In the related class, students study job related topics, develop job search skills, explore careers, develop leadership skills, and work on interpersonal relationships.
